Business Emergency Operations Center Conducts Training Exercise
The
Louisiana Business Emergency Operations Center (LA BEOC), dedicated to
serving the businesses of Louisiana before, during, and after a
disaster, conducted an activation training exercise on November 17,
2011. Serving as an annex to the state emergency operations center, the
LA BEOC tested the logistical, operational, and technical aspects of an
emergency event, as well as intercommunications among sectors. The
exercise utilized the LA BEOC portal, LABEOC.ORG, which
provides bi-directional communication through news alerts, situational
awareness, products and service requests, and other information to its
members and the general public. The goal of this exercise was to ensure
that all stakeholders involved will be aware of their roles to best
serve the State of Louisiana during an emergency event.
The
LA BEOC is a partnership between the Governor’s Office of Homeland
Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) and Louisiana Economic
Development (LED) with support from the National Incident Management
Systems and Advanced Technologies (NIMSAT) Institute of the University
of Louisiana at Lafayette and LSU’s Stephenson Disaster Management
Institute (SDMI).
All
Louisiana businesses are encouraged to register to become part of the
LA BEOC for the most up to date situational awareness during an event.
